I never saw anything coming (as I never do with a Holly Jackson book) and as usual, all the theories I had were entirely wrong and it was something I’d not even thought of。 I have to say, this book was probably a lot more intense than AGGGTM and those were pretty intense and although it took me a little bit of time getting used to all the characters, I absolutely loved how in-depth we found out about each one of the six friends。 Also I thought AGGGTM was going to be a stand-alone but it turned into a trilogy so I’m wondering if this is also going to have a sequel too?? Honestly though, I’d love anything Holly Jackson writes。 She has yet to write a book that didn’t have me awake at odd hours, my eyes glued to the pages haha 。。。more

I was hooked right away。 This definitely has a unique plot and a story line I've never experienced。 Six friends are traveling for a spring break getaway in an RV。 After getting lost in the middle of nowhere, without cell reception, they find themselves trapped inside the RV with it's tires and gas tank shot out。 There is a sniper watching their every move。 They are given a message - one of them has a secret and they aren't going anywhere until someone confesses。 Are they going to work together o I was hooked right away。 This definitely has a unique plot and a story line I've never experienced。 Six friends are traveling for a spring break getaway in an RV。 After getting lost in the middle of nowhere, without cell reception, they find themselves trapped inside the RV with it's tires and gas tank shot out。 There is a sniper watching their every move。 They are given a message - one of them has a secret and they aren't going anywhere until someone confesses。 Are they going to work together or start pointing fingers? 3。5/5 stars。 To be released November 2022。I always enjoy these types of books。 They make for quick reads since they are written to be fast paced。 The whole book takes place in 'real time'/hour by hour。 I did find myself skimming over a few sections of the explanations of how they were setting up ways to protect themselves or plotting to escape since they were a little long winded。 Overall, it was a good read that was slightly predictable but still had enough twists you didn't see coming! 。。。more

Holly Jackson continues her success with her latest YA thriller novel。 This is a fast paced "dark" novel spanning no more than 8 hours with 6 friends traveling in a RV heading to spring break。 Red, the point of view character; Maddy, her best friend; Oliver, her best friend’s brother and his girlfriend and two other friends, Arthur & Simon。 This was the cheaper alternative as red, in the years since her mother's death, is low on funds。 As they travel, they get themselves lost with a "dead' cell Holly Jackson continues her success with her latest YA thriller novel。 This is a fast paced "dark" novel spanning no more than 8 hours with 6 friends traveling in a RV heading to spring break。 Red, the point of view character; Maddy, her best friend; Oliver, her best friend’s brother and his girlfriend and two other friends, Arthur & Simon。 This was the cheaper alternative as red, in the years since her mother's death, is low on funds。 As they travel, they get themselves lost with a "dead' cell phone zone and blow a tire。 However, it seems they are forced into a predicament with a sniper in the air demanding information。。。。。。And they all seem to all be harboring a secret。 As the night wears on, sides will be drawn, secrets revealed, and life altering revelations take place。 This novel is well delivered, providing thrilling suspense as well as delves in to the human beast when under duress。 The connections that are made are riveting。 well done。 Thank you to NetGallery & Random House。 。。。more

I think the most important thing to know is that this is a completely different vibe than the A Good Girls Guide to Murder series。 This is straight up a fast-paced, one-night thriller。 It was nice to see Jackson flex some different muscles, and while I don't think it's quite as good as her series it was enjoyable to read。 It took me a minute to get into it - I didn't love our MC, but once I hit the 30% mark it really started to pick up and I read the rest of it in one sitting because I just had I think the most important thing to know is that this is a completely different vibe than the A Good Girls Guide to Murder series。 This is straight up a fast-paced, one-night thriller。 It was nice to see Jackson flex some different muscles, and while I don't think it's quite as good as her series it was enjoyable to read。 It took me a minute to get into it - I didn't love our MC, but once I hit the 30% mark it really started to pick up and I read the rest of it in one sitting because I just had to know what was happening。 I did not see any of the big reveals coming, which is quite impressive。 Overall, a fun YA thriller。 I don't think it will be for every fan of the series, but if you like YA thrillers and her series, be sure to pick this one up! Stick with it, the pay off of this book is worth it。 Holly Jackson captivated us with the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series, and just know that this is not that series。 But she’s earned her spot as a go to thriller writer for me。 Five Survive started slow and I nearly put it down a few times, but at about 59% it hit its stride and I finished the rest in one sitting。 Excellent - and I hope there’s a follow up coming soon。

Thoughts: This was one fast-paced wild ride! There were twists I didn’t see coming, when I was sure I knew the answers, and I loved the atmospheric, dark setting。 I like how Jackson chose to tell this story just from Red’s POV。 We learn early on that she has had a traumatic past with her mother’s death but do not know what in fact happened and how that has shaped her life。 Getting her steam of consciousness as all the chaos occurred was a great way to watch the events unfold。 I mainly read this book but listened to a few chapters on audio and definitely enjoyed that format as well!
